The Movie Clubhouse RECOMMENDS:

  • ‘PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS’

The first two episodes of ‘PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS’ premiered this past Wednesday on Disney+ with a bang and overwhelmingly positive support. New episodes are released every Wednesday. This series is perfect if you love an easier watch with beautiful visuals and a story worthy of a god. Here is what we had to say about the first half of the season:

“ ‘PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS’ is visually entertaining and features strong characters with performances that get better as the episodes progress. The story is inviting and includes elements which are sometimes both incredibly funny and chilling. The only real negative of the show being its common practice of cutting to ‘black’. With charming characters, glorious sets and strong themes ‘PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS’ will have me seated for the weeks to come.”

  • ‘MAESTRO’

Netflix’s latest biopic is about the majestic life of no one other than composer/conductor “Leonard Bernstein”. This is a perfect film if you love great writing, a powerful score, and an intriguing life story. This is what we had to say about ‘MAESTRO’:

“…’MAESTRO’ is a complex love story in a majestic package. With strong performances from Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan, the story of Leonard Bernstein gets new life. Life which is also partially brought on by the excellent writing as well as the powerful score featured in this family drama. In the end, however, I still wonder how many cigars one can smoke in their lifetime…”

  • ‘LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND’

Another recently released Netflix film is none other than ‘LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND’. This apocalypse drama is still ranking high on Netflix’s charts even though it was released some weeks ago. This is a perfect film to see if you want to know how vulnerable we as a people can be and if you like some stellar acting. This is what we had to say about the film:

“ ‘LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND’ is a mystical yet captivating apocalypse film. It has strong acting from all sides, and while not 5-star excellent or easy to fathom at times. It feels like most seconds in the film are worthwhile. Directed in a stellar way with many clever shots and scenes, and an attention to detail which is also strong. ‘LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND’ is definitely worth a watch for seeing how vulnerable we as a people can be."

There you have them, the recommendations for week 52 of 2023, we are now leaning close to the year’s end. We are indeed approaching the last week of the year. But that is not so terrible after all. 2024 is sure to open up the road leading to many exciting movies/TV series.
